Saturday’s Spotlight “Pac Div”

Welcome to the first edition of Saturday’s Spotlight. Saturdays are no longer spent refreshing blog after blog pages to come up empty handed with no new music. That’s right Hip-Hop works only on weekdays, the weekends are the rest period. REUP has already began it’s Slow Sunday to keep you reminiscing on the history of Hip-Hop with music videos. Now it’s time for artists to shine in the spotlight on Saturdays. Saturday’s Spotlight is about focusing on one artist or group, whether they are on the rise or have already made their mark. The weekends are meant for fun, no work…Let the fun begin with Pac Div.

As Hip Hop attempts to regain its definition, fans have already defined it with Southern California trio, Pac Div. The group consists of brothers, Like and Mibbs, along with longtime friend BeYoung. The three came together in high school. While new talents strayed towards microwave music that trades quantity for quality, Pac Div emulated their idols native tongues and hieroglyphics to create slow-crafted conceptual music.

In the middle of July Pac Div hit us with their Church League Champions mixtape. The trio have gained a huge buzz after the release of this mixtape. Read a review of the mixtape on XXL. Below I have included their video single “Mayor”.
