Lil Mal (Interview)
Next contestant is Jacktown, Mississippi’s own Lil Mal. Lil Mal participates in a short interview to promote and explain his latest mixtape, Live From Shady Oaks. Other than mixtape details, Lil Mal tells us what is best to eat in Mississippi and who his favorite artist on the rise is.
Lil Mal, What Up?
What It Do My Nigga
Before I get into details, what in the world inspired “Pull Out”?
Well The Whole Meaning Behind The Pull Out Song Is It Feel So Good So Ion Wanna Pull Out. So YouTell Me One Guy In The World That Havent Felt Like That Befo When Having Sex.
When I think of Mississippi music I think of David Banner. Has he influenced you at all?
Nall Not Really, My Granddad & A Cousin Of Mines Name Sally B Influenced Me Alot. My Granddad Was A Good Motivator, Leader, & My Role Model. Sally B Is A Street Nigga/Rapper In Which Is Locked Up Right Now. He The One That Started Me To Rapping.
In what aspect has living in Mississippi affected your music?
Honestly Being That We Really Not On The Map Like Other Cities Motivates Me To Try To Be The One Or One Of The Ones That Takes The State To That Level. So I Guess You Can Say It Makes Me Try Harder Then A Nigga Coming Out Of Atlanta Or Houston.
What’s the best food to eat down there?
Soulfood All Day Homie!
Give us the breakdown of your relationship with Tha Joker.
I Met Joker Almost 3yrs Ago. He Another Hot Artist From Around My Way. He Was Gettin Big Exposure In Atlanta But Not In His Hometown Yet & I Was The Popular Guy Around Town In My City. So He Help Me Take My Career To Another Level & I Helped Him Get His Hometeam Behind Em By Working Together On Different Projects. Be On The Lookout For More Shit From Us Together Too!
Let’s get into “Live From Shady Oaks”…What inspired you to make this mixtape?
Well Live From Shady Oaks Its Nothing But Facts No Lies. Shady Oaks Is The Neighborhood I Live In. Just Like Any Other hood We Got Drugs, Violence & All The Other Crazy Shit. So Basically I Was Just Tellin The World Everythang They Hear Jeezy, TI, Or Rick Ross Say In They Music Just From A Shady Oaks (Jackson, MS) Point Of View.
What type of vibe can one expect to get when first turning this tape on?
All My Music Is Reality Based So If You Coming From Nothing You Can Relate To Damn Near Every Song You Hear Me On. I Can Spit That Get Yo Life Together Type Shit & Then Switch Over To That Ima Donkey Chill Out Cause I’ll Kill A Nigga Bout Mines Type Shit. So Any Body From The Gutta Gone Feel Me Real Talk.
I’ma hit you with the popular question now-a-days.
Who is your favorite hip hop artist on rise?
Lil Boosie No Doubt. I Use To See Him When He Was Like 17 In My Hood With My Cousin Sally B. So I Watched Him Come From The Bottom To The Top. I Feel His Struggle. I Fuck With Alot Local Music Too Like Lil C, Recognition, Tha Joker, Jewman, Sally Bizzle, & Boo of CTE
What are in the works for the future of Lil Mal?
Ima Keep On Droppin These Mixtapes & Keep Keeping It 100 With My People Cuz Thats The Only Way You Will Make It MyNigga. Once You Got The Streets Behind You The Radio Cant Deny Ya & The Labels Cant Ignore Ya.
Hit us with ya SHOUTSOUTS…
